Form that speaks... Kathinka Dysthe, born in 1963, comes from a family of designers. She was educated at SHKS and the Institute for Industrial Design in Oslo, Norway, where she received her diploma in 1994. The following two years she worked as an industrial designer with porcelain. Thereafter, she worked with tasks in lighting, interiors and sports and leisure products at a design house in Oslo. Since 1999, she has been running the design company OS2 with her husband, Even Wøllo, also an industrial designer. She believes that their collaboration strengthens her products and inspires new angles. When Kathinka Dysthe works with the design of glass, she begins with something she wants to express, then gives the glass its shape.This is the starting point for decoration, when the work is part of a series. An example of this is the wine service Bris (2001). Kathinka Dysthe has been awarded Merket for God Design three times, and has many products on her reference list. She shows diversity and clarity of expression in all her work. |
