Anna Ehrner

Long lasting function and elegance. Ever since Anna Ehrner started working as a designer at Kosta Boda in 1974 her collections have proven to become very popular. The greatest example is perhaps the stemware range Line, one of the all time best selling ranges in Sweden. The line that dwindles up, each glass is also available in black or gold. In the mid 1990's she designed Atoll, another range that has expanded in a natural way by integrating new colours. The coloured veils inside the crystal make Atoll a unique splash of colour in any home. The technique with which you create these coloured veils has become something of a speciality for Anna. Using the same technique she has also created Cool Moons and Contrast where the colour lives it own life inside the crystal.

In her series Swedish Horse, she reinterprets the traditional Swedish horse in a new and innovative way. By using clear crystal with veils of vivid colour inside the crystal, she gives a whole new feeling to the traditional wooden object that is so typical for the region of Dalarna in Sweden.

Anna is of course not limited to one technique. In Madrid, a series of vases, she uses a completely different technique to bring uniqueness to each item. The hot melted glass is rolled on a bed of glass threads. The glass threads that melt onto the core become the pattern and structure on the vase. The result can only be controlled to a certain extent. As Anna herself puts it:

"It is the melted glass that decides and provides inspiration."
