Kabale is an artistic glass technique that Ulrica Hydman-Vallien often used to create her characteristic and expressive works. The technique gives the motif a fascinating depth and makes the painting an integral part of the glass itself.

The motif is painted on the inside of the glass and then enclosed by additional layers of glass. This protects the painting inside the work while the transparent glass creates depth, reflections and optical effects. On some Kabale works, patterns and details have also been ground or machined on the outside, further enhancing the three-dimensional expression.

All works in Kabale are handmade in Kosta, Sweden, and the craftsmanship makes each object individual. Only one copy has been made of this particular piece, making it a unique piece of art glass – not part of a numbered series.

This vase was made during the period 2005–2010 and bears Ulrica Hydman-Vallien's well-known, colorful and personal design language. The work is signed by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien.
