Welcome to the Vas Vitreum Studio Glassworks – Where Art and Craft Meet Tradition
Welcome to Vas Vitreum, a studio glassworks where every creation is a manifestation of art, craftsmanship, and deep-rooted family tradition.
For generations, master glassblowers within the family have carried forward a rich heritage of freehand glassmaking, giving each sculpture, vase, and artwork its own unique and personal character.
Today, the fifth generation, represented by Mikael Kenlind, proudly continues this artistic legacy. Like the rest of his family, Mikael was introduced to the world of glass art at an early age and learned the craft from the ground up.
At only eight years old, his grandfather built him a small glassblowing bench — marking the beginning of a lifelong passion for glass and artistry.
By the time Mikael Kenlind officially joined the family business in 2002, he already possessed a solid understanding of the art of glassmaking, shaped by his early experiences and his grandfather’s mentorship. He seamlessly transitioned into the role of master craftsman at the family’s glassworks in Vadstena, where his deep knowledge of the material’s properties became key to carrying the tradition forward.
Mikael’s artistry was further enriched through his collaboration with the Venetian glass master Benito Marcolin during Marcolin’s time at Vas Vitreum. This exchange broadened Mikael’s artistic vision and refined his technique, helping to shape each creation into a unique work of art that unites Swedish tradition with international inspiration.
