NOMAD is Wictor Öberg, a young artist and artisan who recently graduated from Konstfack where he received his bachelor's degree in ceramics and glass, 2020. The refinement of materials and the value change that arises during processing is a driving force in his artistic practice. He works with many different materials in a way that is often critical of norms and society. He likes to explore new techniques and stands with one leg in classical sculpture and one leg in broad future visions of what art, craftsmanship and materiality can be.
“My mission as an artist and artisan is to bend a little on the ideas we have about materials and their value. I work a lot with both found and more traditional materials and the work gravitates towards sculptural copies of more or less everyday things, which are produced in new versions. Concepts such as "genuine" and "false" fascinate me. The results often look like they were taken from a comic book, and are often based on a simplifying ironic humor, a great interest in cartoons and the media, and a healthy distance from value hierarchies. ”
