In the early 1960s, a group of imaginative and creative people from Boda created Boda Smithy, Boda Wood and Boda Nova. New art glass was created by legends like Erik Höglund, Signe Persson-Melin, Monica Backström, Rolf Sinnemark and Kjell Engman. In 2009, Emmaboda municipality bought a historical art glass collection of Kosta Boda and Åfors Glasbruk Orrefors under the name The Glass Factory Museum. Today, The Glass Factory has one of Scandinavia's largest art glass collections with over 30,000 objects in its collection. The Glass Factory is not only a museum but also a place for creativity and innovation for younger glassblowers, a place where artists get the chance to show and create their art glass. A meeting place where Swedish and international artists mixes and creates art that has never been seen before. The Glass Factory is located in the heart of Glasriket and a visit is a must from an art glass fan.
